Appear Younger With a Stunning Smile

There’s no stopping the aging process, but there are options for those who want to look and feel younger. One trend that is gaining popularity as an alternative to plastic surgery is cosmetic dentistry, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
Experts say that with age, faces can shorten, chins can move back, cheeks hollow and wrinkles stand out. These changes can be at least partially abated by taking a seat in your dentist’s chair. “When the teeth are in the right position, they fill out the volume (of the face). You see more teeth, resulting in a more youthful appearance,” Nicholas Davis, DDS, and past president of the AACD told the Wall Street Journal in an interview. In addition to taking years off of your appearance, you get an added boost of confidence in being able to smile without inhibition.
The following tips from the AACD can help you look and feel younger:
* Contour or reshape your teeth. Look younger by correcting minor imperfections in your teeth. Simply polishing the worn edges and sharp angles of your teeth, they appear more aligned and symmetrical, and you appear younger. Porcelain veneers and crowns can restore and enhance a tooth’s original structure, and bonding can conceal gaps, chips and stains to give the appearance of more attractive and youthful teeth.
* Whiten your teeth. A youthful smile is a healthful, white smile. Teeth become discolored over time from drinking, smoking and neglect. Whitening your teeth can belie years of abuse. A word of advice, however: Don’t overdo it. Cosmetic dentists are trained to select the appropriate natural shade that suits you. Once teeth are whitened, avoid drinks such as grape juice, red wine, tea and coffee, which stain teeth, and definitely refrain from smoking.
* Replace silver mercury amalgam fillings. For the same reason that tooth decay looks bad, black mercury fillings show your age as well. Black silver mercury amalgam, which has been used for decades to repair cavities, expands and contracts, causing tiny cracks in teeth that can be a concern over time. Replacing that material with a new tooth-colored composite resin filling may both alleviate any further breakdown of the teeth and brighten your smile

“Light” Up the Grill: Three Creative Tips for a Leaner Barbeque Menu

“Light” Up the Grill: Three- Creative- Tips for- a Leaner Barbeque- MenuIt’s time to dust off the grills, pile up the charcoal and break out the oversized spatula because grilling season is here! With school out for the summer, it’s time for families to gear up for barbecue parties filled with tasty grilled grub. If you’re looking to whip up barbecue favorites at your next family cookout but still want to keep the menu lean, follow these go-to tips for lightened up versions of classic dishes that don’t sacrifice an ounce of flavor.
* Ditch the Traditional Bun: If you’re looking to cut calories and pack in an extra serving of veggies for the kids, consider swapping your traditional hamburger and hot dog buns for creative and delicious veggie alternatives. Refrigerator staples from zucchini and romaine lettuce to sweet potato can quickly transform into slider and sausage buns. For added flavor and a meatier texture, cook your veggies on the grill with a brush of olive oil, salt and pepper.
* Grill Lean(er) Meat: Believe it or not, there is a way to eat clean and lean without sacrificing the taste you love from richer cuts of meat. Chicken breasts, skinless chicken thighs, pork loin and even flank steak are all excellent options for leaner cuts. Fewer calories aren’t the only bonus — the lack of excess fat will cause fewer flare-ups on the grill.
If you’re a fan of hot dogs or bratwurst, consider looking for a leaner seasoned sausage to swap so flavor isn’t sacrificed. Simply Savory Smoked Sausages from Land O’Frost are available in a variety of bold flavors, including bacon and cheddar, chipotle and roasted red pepper, and Italian style with pepper and mozzarella. These sausages have 35 percent less fat and no artificial flavors, MSG and fillers often found in hot dogs and sausage products.
* Tangy Twist: Instead of dousing chicken and pork in store-bought barbeque sauces that are high in sugar, consider squeezing the juice of fresh lemon or limes over meat. If you’re feeling a little bit more adventurous, swap out the tangy taste for a sweeter fruit. Adding pineapple or orange juice can offer the sweet flavors you’re craving without the added sugar.
With these simple tricks in mind, fire up the grill and get ready to create a healthier barbecue for your family and friends. For coupons and more information about Land O’Frost’s Simply Savory Sausages,
